3. Rima the Jungle Girl v1 #1, 1974 - Beginning an adaptation of the novel Green Mansions, this issue benefits from a trio of superb artists. Nestor Redondo draws Rima's origin and first appearance with exquisite, lovingly detailed drawings. In addition to a stunning double page spread (pages 2-3), several large panels display a mastery of exotic flora and fauna. Alex Nino begins the Space Voyagers, a series of sci-fi stories contrasting in style but impressive in its own right. Joe Kubert's mysterious cover, presenting Rima in a centered layout, is a less memorable effort. Both stories were written by Robert Kanigher. This is 1 of 6 Rima issues by Redondo, 1 of 5 Rima issues by Nino and 1 of 7 Rima issues by Kubert. /// key 1st appearance Space Voyagers, 1st issue / Top 10 Redondo comics / Redondo gallery

I wasn't aware of this book- thanks! I could point out that the core shadow effect right down the middle of Rima's face, a common Wally Wood device, was atypical of Kubert. I feel Kubert was striving for an iconic image. I give it a thumbs up.
